What interior design is, the design process from brief to delivery, key project types and how the live online sessions, software demos, assignment submission and instructor review work throughout the course.
Module 2 - Space Planning, Measurements and Layout Basics
Reading architectural floor plans, taking room measurements, understanding scale, circulation paths, furniture zones and basic space planning principles for residential and small commercial interiors.
Module 3 - AutoCAD Basics for Interior Layouts
AutoCAD interface, drawing setup and the core commands needed for interior work - walls, doors, windows, furniture symbols, dimensions and basic annotation to produce a clean 2D interior layout.
Module 4 - SketchUp Modelling for Interiors
SketchUp workspace, push-pull modelling, component placement, groups, scenes and basic material application. Modelling a furnished room interior with walls, openings, flooring and furniture.
Module 5 - Materials, Colours, Furniture and Design Presentation
Colour theory for interiors, material selection - flooring, wall finishes, textiles, furniture styles. Assembling a design mood board and producing a presentation-ready material and colour scheme.
Module 6 - 3D Visualisation and Rendering Overview
Introduction to Lumion: importing a SketchUp model, applying materials, setting up lighting, camera views and producing a basic interior render for client presentation or portfolio use.
Module 7 - Portfolio and Project Presentation Basics
Organising design outputs into a presentation document - layout, drawing sheets, rendered views, mood board and written project description. Introduction to digital portfolio preparation.
Module 8 - Final Interior Design Project
End-to-end interior design project: develop a brief, produce a 2D layout in AutoCAD, model the space in SketchUp, apply materials, render in Lumion and present the full design concept. Reviewed live online by the instructor.
