Once you are proficient in SolidWorks, transitioning to CATIA or NX CAD is much easier because the underlying parametric modelling principles are the same.
What is the difference between SolidWorks, CATIA and NX CAD?
SolidWorks is a widely used mid-range parametric 3D CAD tool, especially common in Indian manufacturing and SME sectors. CATIA is used in aerospace, automotive and defence industries and is suited to complex surfacing and large assembly management. NX CAD (formerly Unigraphics) is similarly enterprise-grade and used in heavy engineering, tooling and aerospace. Do mechanical engineers also need to learn simulation tools like ANSYS?
